Heating Tune-Up
Most winter breakdowns are the predictable end of something that was measurable in the autumn. A heating tune-up is where it gets found.

“Compressor was locked up on our 2 year old system. Chris and Keedan took the time to troubleshoot averything and get it running again. Because he had already gotten the information he needed to have a compressor on standby, he was able to change it out the following morning. This unit now cools the house better than it did when it was brand new. There are many companies out there making HVAC repairs, but that preparation and follow up is the type of service that most companies don’t provide anymore.”

“The guys from American heating were great. They came out and diagnosed my AC, explained everything and had it up and running right away. They were super professional and polite. Will use again and highly recommend.”

“The technicians, led by 'Palm' Patel, were super. The estimate for a new HVAC system was very reasonable, and the installation speed was phenomenal. I signed off on the estimate on a Friday, and the system was installed the following Tuesday. What I truly liked about American Heating and Cooling is that they are local, Veteran-owned, and knowledgeable. Also, they made us feel like friends and neighbors, not just clients.”

“They helped me when my normal company made a mistake last year and left me with no heat in freezing weather. They arrived promptly and fixed what the regular guys messed up! This year I decided to switch over completely and had my first maintenance service call. The staff was respectful and thorough. Highly recommended!!!”

“The other company told me my 8yr old unit needed to be replaced. Called American talked to Melanie on the phone to get a second opinion she was amazing and sent Allen and Kyle out next day. The guys showed up took a look, showed me the leak and where the other company did a really poor job of ‘fixing’ the leak last time. Allen and Kyle fixed me right up, gave me a military discount and went about their day! Luckily I called American for a second opinion and got taken care of without replacing the unit!”

A furnace burns fuel inside your house, so the autumn check is a safety inspection as much as an efficiency one. The reason to do it before the first cold night is simple: a system that has sat idle since March shows its problems on the night you need it, and that is the worst night to be looking for a technician.
What Gets Checked
The heat exchanger inspected: the component that separates combustion gases from the air you breathe. This is the check that matters most, and it is the reason a heating tune-up is not the same job as a cooling one.
Combustion and venting verified: that the system is burning cleanly and that everything it produces is leaving the building.
Safety controls tested: limit switches and the flame sensor, the components that shut a furnace down before a fault becomes dangerous.
Airflow and filter checked: restricted airflow is the most common cause of a furnace overheating and short cycling.
Thermostat calibration confirmed: so the temperature you set is the temperature you get.
Signs Your System Is Asking For Attention
Any of these before the season starts is worth a visit rather than a wait.
It ran rough at the end of last winter
Whatever it was doing in March has not fixed itself over the summer.
Short bursts, over and over
Short cycling on a limit switch. Usually a dirty filter, a blocked flue or an overheating heat exchanger.
A burning smell that does not clear
Dust burning off at first start is normal. Anything persistent is not.
Rooms that never warm up
Airflow, ductwork or a system that was undersized for the house.
Bills climbed last winter
With no change in how you used it, that is efficiency draining away somewhere measurable.
It is over about fifteen years old
Worth knowing its real condition before the season rather than during it.
The Comfort Club Covers The Heating Visit Too
The American Comfort Club is a membership rather than a one-off booking, and it starts at $14.99 a month. It includes TWO seasonal visits a year, one for cooling and one for heating, so if you are booking a heating tune-up now the club covers this visit and the cooling one in the spring.
What $14.99 A Month Includes
Two seasonal visits a year: one before the cooling season and one before the heating season, booked for you so neither gets forgotten.
15% off parts: on any repair carried out while you are a member.
A $79 member service fee: instead of the standard rate, on any call-out between the scheduled visits.
Priority scheduling: which matters most on the first genuinely cold morning, when everyone in Columbus calls at once.
Cancel anytime: it is a monthly membership, not a contract you are locked into.
Conditions apply. Call for details and we will tell you exactly what the membership covers before you commit to anything.
